Individual counseling

Areas of Focus

Approach

I work with people aged 14+ on anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, and issues of meaning-making and purpose. I have particular expertise in family-of-origin issues and working with folks from the queer/LGB+ and trans populations.

Below are some of the concerns that people bring to me:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • transitional stress

  • relationship issues

  • family-of-origin issues

  • grief and loss

  • college-age concerns

  • sexuality exploration

  • gender exploration

  • sexual concerns

  • personal growth

  • suicidal thoughts

  • self-esteem concerns

  • childhood trauma

  • burnout

  • psychological and somatic distress from systemic marginalization and oppression

I am committed to providing socioculturally conscious counseling, which means that I work to explore intersecting elements of identity and how they play into our relationship together. This means that I also actively check my own awareness, assumptions, and understanding of our overlapping and diverging identities in the therapeutic dyad.

I am predominantly informed by relational Gestalt therapy, with an attachment-oriented lens. This means that I help you become more deeply attuned to yourself from moment to moment so that you can develop new ways of interacting with yourself and others. Our relationship is the cornerstone of that process.

I also integrate Psychodynamic theory, Internal Family Systems (and other types of parts work), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Feminist theory and ideology inform the foundation of all of my work.

Fees and Session Length

Intake sessions last approximately 60 minutes at a rate of $130. These are one-time sessions unless you are a returning client with at least 4 months between the new intake and your last session with me.

Follow-up Sessions last approximately 50 minutes at a rate of $110.

I provide sliding scale services on an as-needed basis, though these slots do fill. Please let me know immediately if you are needing sliding scale services. Follow this link to begin to learn more about sliding scale, and we will work together to determine an appropriate fee. I can also assist you in reimbursement for your out-of-network insurance benefits. Read more about that here
